FAQs

What is the minimum age requirement?

You must be aged 18 to 99 years of age to rent a 350cc or 450cc motorcycle and aged 20 to 99 years of age to rent a 650cc motorcycle from us.

What kind of licence do I need to rent?

You need a full motorcycle licence to ride a motorcycle or scooter in Ireland. The category of licence must match the category of motorcycle or scooter being rented. Learner permits are not sufficient, you must have passed a test. A car licence is not sufficient even if your home country allows you to ride a motorcycle on a car licence. All overseas licences are accepted. An English language international licence is needed for non-English language licences. If in doubt please ask.

Does your rental include insurance?

Yes. Insurance is included in your booking and is itemised in your booking summary. Your liability is limited to €1500 in the event of a third party claim or motorcycle damage / theft. We will not deal with third party excess insurance companies. The deposit must be paid when you collect the motorcycle.

Do your bikes come with luggage and gear?

Yes. Luggage is included in your rental free of charge and riding gear is available to rent on premises at very low rates.

Can I add extras at time of booking?

No. We keep costs low by no faffing.

Where are you based?

Our rental station is in the heart of Adare, Co. Limerick with strong and convenient low cost bus links from Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports. Use https://www.dublincoach.ie/ or https://www.flightlink.ie/ to Adare and we are a short walk from there. We are open 10am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.

Can I book transfers to get to your premises?

No. We keep costs low by allowing you to make your own way here.

Is there parking at your premises?

Yes. There is parking at our premises for €10 per day.

What are your business hours?

We are open for booking online 24-hours a day, every day of the week. We are open for motorcycle collection and return strictly from 10am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay using Visa or MasterCard debit/credit card only. Insurance deposits must be secured on a Visa or MasterCard debit/credit card only (physical card, not Apple or Android pay). No cash sales. We do not accept Diners Club or AMEX cards. All payments are final and non-refundable. Absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

What is the minimum rental period?

We have a minimum rental charge of 8 days but the minimum rental duration is 1 day. This means that at a rental rate of €60 per day, a 1 day rental will cost €480, a 2 day rental will also cost €480 and a 5 day rental will also cost €480. A 10 day rental will cost €600 and so on.

Do your rates include VAT?

VAT is included at the reduced rate of 13.5%.

€60 per day eh? So why is the total much higher on check out?

There is a minimum 8 day rental charge. So the best value rentals are about 5 days or more. If you want a lower cost shorter term rental then check out https://www.retroventuresireland.com/

Can I make special requests like early start or transfers or extra luggage?

No. We keep costs low by ignoring all special requests. We will not answer you so please don't ask.

What riding gear can I rent?

Save money and bring your own riding gear! Or, if you don't have space, you can rent our high end fully waterproof riding gear (jackets, oants, gloves, boots) and HJC flip helmets. Helmets are a legal requirement throughout Europe. Rates are €30 per item per rental so jacket, helmet and gloves will be €90 for the rental (equivalent to €9 per day for a 10 day rental).

Do you track your bikes? Is mileage limited?

Yes we do track our bikes. This is for insurance purposes and it helps us locate you in case of emergency or breakdown.

Mileage is limited to an average of 250km per day per motorcycle over the total rental period. Extra mileage is charged at the end of the rental at €1.00 per km.

What happens if my licence is not valid or not available at time of collection?

You must present a physical valid drivers licence at time of collection of the motorcycle. If your licence is out of date, does not include a motorcycle endorsement or you forget to bring your licence then your booking will be deemed to have been cancelled by you and no refund will be made. Absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

What happens if it's raining at time of collection?

All our motorcycles are waterproof and operate adequately in the rain. If you decide not to take the motorcycle due to rain or other weather conditions not agreeable to you then your booking will be deemed to have been cancelled by you and no refund will be made. Absolutely no exceptions to this rule.

Can I book accommodation here too?

No. We are a no-nonsense motorcycle rental service only. We keep our costs low by concentrating on what we do best and you can save money by booking your own accommodation. Use www.booking.com www.airbnb.ie , www.bandbireland.com or www.hostelworld.com for best value and flexibility.

Can you recommend tour routes in Ireland?
